I honestly belive for faming uw duo. anything like frenzy or healsig to lower overall armor is not needed.
you really never want to tank graspings alone because its such a pain. but if you have to. then just have your ranger partner throw an sv or av on you before you go in. that will keep them from using flurry and they will then activate your sb most of the time..
you will still see some throttle but you will be able to survive. the more squid the easier it is to tank them using that early sv method.
But for the way a spirit bonder pulls.. on a standard smite run you should really never encounter any graspings withought having at least a few attax to help with the damage negation anyway..
and another good tip is target an attacking attax and use your mele weapon to swing on him.. his repostes will fire your bond and heal ya. that way if you have 3 squid and one attax on ya.. it will be like having two attax on ya and make things a lil easier
good luck with the build fellas.. and thank anet for the famine recharge time buff.. from 45 to 30 .. YAY

this build doesnt work anymore tho... due to the fact that spirit bond lasts not by time, but my number of attack dealt on you now. i think its like 5-10 attacks.

If im right you can do this with a 55 monk too since you dont need the maxed out damage for Holy Wrath etc.
You can take a mo/w with the normal setup and fear me.
But then again a 600 monk can take a big group even with the nerfed version of Spirit Bond.
Nice Build it works really good. In my try the ranger only had time for the spirits most of the time and some pulling.
Oh, S quickness (i dont know the name any more >.<) is a good help for the recharg on the spirit.

Because of the new AI update, when the FR (Famine Ranger) casts AV or SV on the monk, the enemies will break aggro from the monk and attack the FR. As a result, the 55 (can't be straight up Spirit Bond any more, but a hybrid is still viable) has to take AV and SV. Because of their long cast, he/she also has to take Mantra of Resolve. This leaves the monk without many free skill slots, but we can free some up by having the FR go R/Mo (any attrib set will do, as long as you have 8 healing) and taking the following skill set:
Famine [e]
Edge of Extinction
Mending
Balthazar's Spirit
Essence Bond
Optional [could take Succor/Watchful Spirit etc, we're still tweaking these slots]
Optional [Possibly Serpent's Quickness]
Optional [Res]
and the 55 now takes (again any attribs - just make sure AV/SV last for 15seconds each):
Healing Breeze
Protective Spirit
Spirit Bond [even with the nerf it is still good for tanking large mobs]
Spellbreaker [e]
Ancestor's Visage
Sympathetic Visage
Mantra of Resolve
Essence Bond
Basically the Ranger casts his enchants on the monk, and the rest proceeds as normal.
Yes, I know this is on Wiki, but me and my Ranger partner believe this version works better. We are still tweaking everything, and I'll try to keep you all informed.
Hope this helped.

I found out that if you start with SV on them and get there energy to quite low you dont need to recast SV just keep using "fear me"

A 55 doesnt need spirit bond. Only the 600 monk uses that. You can take blessed signet instead so you power up faster.

Somehow Grasping Darknesses and Smite Crawlers are breaking aggro on me and going for the ranger. He is well outside their aggro bubble but still its happening. If anyone can explain what is going on i would much appriciate it.
Cheers.

AS already stated this build doesn't work any longer with the new update the Monk now has to carry sv/av to do any good.

well if that is the case.. take a look at my new age farming monk thread
never give in and give up guys.. just keep workin on it untill you can kick some butt
although its sad to see.. the key to farming now is taking smaller pulls.. 4 is good number 3 is optimal..
with smite however.. go ahead and go nuts..just have your ranger bring a trap.. they die so damn fast it dosent matter. they will still shotgun on ya.. but you will have them so close to death.. that when they hit the trap of the ranger.. and the ones hitting you die.. the eoe bomb will cause the same 20+ smite death bomb we all love to see
